can anyone give me a quick load down on why these are a buy? say as compared to the UHR? they have a pretty decent premium added to spot.

Are you sure the number variance reflects just orders for the Buffalo proof and not for all orders placed thru the USMint site?

Doesn't seem there is much action on this subject. Makes me think there isn't much ordering going on. Maybe everyone is waiting on the expected $50 price drop this week.

Edit: This is an order # from 10/16 for "2009 LINCOLN COIN & CHRONICLES SET" 33229xxx so it looks like you are correct that it is all orders on 10/29 for all products. I would think a very high % of those orders are the Buff Proofs considering what all is available but I could be wrong.

In any event, you know a maximum order for the buffs, assuming all the orders were for buffs, which probably isn't the case.

I think you are right about the order numbers. They do not reflect the actual amount of one product sold, but the amount of orders received. If someone were to order 10 Buffalo proofs on one order, they would only be assigned one order number. Also, if someone were to order one 2009 mint coin set, they would receive the next order number and so on. But, high activity in one day with a new release should be a good barometer for a newly released product.

The mint should release updated product sales. This is a good site that I always use to check sale numbers, they usually provide weekly updates from the mint.
